The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised alarms over the activities of a faith-based organization, Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, located at KM 5 Effurun, Sapele Road, Delta State, for using NAFDAC’s name to deceive the public. The ministry, led by Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto, is accused of selling and advertising “Miracle Water” and “Miracle Soap” with bogus healing claims.
In a statement released on Sunday, September 8, 2024, NAFDAC revealed that the ministry has been promoting these products as cures for barrenness and other ailments, falsely claiming they were NAFDAC-approved. Several concerned citizens filed petitions, prompting the agency to investigate the matter. The petitioners also submitted various products, including “Miracle & Healing Water,” “River Jordan Water,” and “Father Smelled Perfume,” which were marketed under false pretences.
During an undercover visit, NAFDAC’s Delta State Coordinator purchased a bottle of “Miracle Water” and sought clarification from the ministry. However, the ministry’s officials denied producing the products, despite evidence to the contrary.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the ministry had entered into an illegal production contract with Globod Table Water in Delta State, which led NAFDAC to seal the facility for aiding in the production and sale of unregistered products.
NAFDAC has warned the public to cease purchasing any miracle products from the ministry and reiterated that none of these items are registered or approved by the agency. Director General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye urged faith-based organizations to refrain from engaging in the illegal production of regulated products without proper approvals.
NAFDAC remains committed to ensuring the safety and health of Nigerians and will continue its investigation into the activities of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries.
