The Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Hon. Christian Onogba, has boldly declared that he will leave politics if Senator Ovie Omo-Agege wins three local government areas in the 2027 Delta State governorship election.
Onogba made this statement on Wednesday in Asaba during a reception ceremony held in honor of Senator Ighoyota Amori, who was recently appointed as the Chief Adviser to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Senator Amori’s Appointment Will Shape Delta Politics
Speaking at the event, Hon. Onogba praised Senator Amori’s appointment, calling it a well-deserved recognition that will influence political strategies in Delta State.
“Chief Amori is an experienced politician who understands the political terrain of Delta. With his appointment, a lot will change in the state’s politics,” Onogba said.
Defectors from PDP Are Not a Loss
Addressing the issue of politicians leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Onogba dismissed concerns, stating that those defecting did not contribute to the party’s success in the last election.
“The people leaving PDP now never helped the party win the last election. So whether they stay or leave, PDP has lost nothing,” he said.
PDP Confident of Victory in 2027
Onogba expressed strong confidence that the PDP will retain power in the 2027 elections, citing the success of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which is bringing development to every part of Delta State.
Omo-Agege’s Influence is Overrated
The council chairman dismissed Senator Omo-Agege’s chances in 2027, recalling that in the last election, Omo-Agege only won four out of 25 local government areas.
“Omo-Agege is not a threat to PDP. In the next election, he won’t win more than one local government. Quote me on that,” Onogba declared.
The Bold Challenge: Will He Quit Politics?
In a final statement, Hon. Onogba made a bold promise:
“If Omo-Agege wins three local government areas in 2027, I will quit politics.”
With the 2027 elections still ahead, this challenge sets the stage for an intense political contest in Delta State.
