Job Creation Bureau Chief Unveils Plans for Youth Employment and Economic Growth in Delta State

The Chief Job Creation Officer of Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, has provided insights into the proposed 2025 budget after presenting and defending it before the Interministerial Budget Committee. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Planning at Prof. Chike Edozein Secretariat, Asaba, the state capital.

Comrade Egwunyenga expressed confidence that the new initiatives within the budget would contribute significantly to job creation and economic growth in Delta State, aligning with the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“We just finished our budget defence, and with our proposals and new direction in job and wealth creation, I am sure Deltans will benefit greatly. The MORE Agenda of His Excellency will take this to a whole new level in the coming year,” said Egwunyenga. He highlighted that the bureau’s focus would be on a multifaceted approach to job creation, moving beyond traditional methods.

Speaking about his mandate from the Delta State governor, Comrade Egwunyenga explained, “When I became Chief Job Creation Officer, my first step was to take a holistic look at how best to address the issues. We evaluated what exists, what needs to be done, and where we aim to go. Addressing job creation requires a multifaceted approach, not a single-track solution.”

He noted that while previous efforts had focused on vocational training and skill acquisition, the new budget would emphasize diversification. “This time, from the job creation perspective, we are diversifying. We are not only continuing with vocational skills, but we are also focusing on special, trending skills that are currently market-driven. These skills can boost the economy, enable our youth to work remotely, and make them competitive on national and international levels,” Egwunyenga added.

The Chief Job Creation Officer further elaborated on the bureau’s strategy to leverage the internet and digital opportunities for job creation. “The internet offers many possibilities, and we want to initiate programs that can turn negatives into positives. His Excellency has made it clear through the MORE Agenda that there is a need for more action. Moving forward, the 2025 budget will emphasize diversification in job creation, not just through state government efforts but also through partnerships and collaborations. This will help us create more opportunities for our youth in Delta State,” he concluded.

The initiatives outlined by Comrade Egwunyenga reflect a renewed focus on modern skills and digital transformation, aiming to make Delta’s youth active players in both the local and global economy.
