Former Delta State Commissioner, Mr Omamofe Pirah, has praised the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, following the successful completion of the landmark 20.95-kilometre Trans-Warri–Ode-Itsekiri Road, a project that includes 15 bridges of various spans and has been nearly two decades in the making.
In a statement on Thursday, Pirah described the completion as “a monumental breakthrough and a long-awaited blessing for the Itsekiri nation.” He commended Governor Oborevwori for his political will, financial discipline, and strong commitment to inclusive development, noting that these qualities made it possible to conclude a project awarded 19 years ago but repeatedly stalled.
Pirah noted that the achievement has brought an end to years of uncertainty and frustration, finally turning a major infrastructural dream into reality. According to him, the Itsekiri people—who have waited close to 20 years for this crucial road connection—“now have every reason to celebrate.”
He urged the entire Itsekiri nation to rally behind Governor Oborevwori and support his second-term bid in 2027, arguing that the Governor’s performance in less than two years clearly demonstrates the value of continuity and the prospects for even greater development across the state.
The former Commissioner also congratulated the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Lead Coordinator, South-South, for the Renewed Hope Initiative. Pirah described the appointment as “well-deserved,” citing Dr Okowa’s leadership track record, experience, and commitment to national progress.
He expressed confidence that Dr Okowa will bring wisdom, humility, and administrative expertise to his new role, helping to advance the goals of the Renewed Hope Initiative for the overall benefit of the South-South region.
