Funkekeme Pledges Collaboration with DYTM, Outlines Coordination Plan

The Senior Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Funkekeme Solomon, has pledged collaboration with the Delta Youths Transformation Movement (DYTM), outlining a structured plan to coordinate grassroots support groups across the state.

Solomon made this known on Tuesday while receiving members of DYTM during a courtesy visit to his office in Asaba, where the group also marked his birthday and formally introduced its activities and objectives.

Addressing the delegation, the adviser commended the youths for their commitment to transformation and civic engagement, noting that organised youth participation is critical to national development. He stressed that meaningful progress begins with a change in mindset and the willingness to embrace reforms, even when they come with temporary challenges.

He referenced ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including the removal of fuel subsidy, describing them as bold steps aimed at addressing long-standing economic issues and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

Solomon also praised Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for maintaining policy continuity and prioritising infrastructure and security across the state. He noted that ongoing projects, particularly in Warri and the surrounding areas, demonstrate the administration’s commitment to development.

Outlining the coordination plan of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Solomon explained that the organisation has a dedicated directorate responsible for screening and harmonising support groups to ensure effective presence at the ward level.

According to him, the structure is designed to bridge the communication gap between government performance and public understanding by ensuring that accurate information reaches citizens at the grassroots level.

“We are confident in your transformative vision,” he told the DYTM delegation. “Our duty is to connect performance with information, and we are open to working with groups that can effectively mobilise and educate the people.”

He added that the movement’s request for partnership would undergo a formal review process, after which modalities for screening and possible recognition as an official support group would be communicated.

Earlier, the President of DYTM, Isioma Melekwe Odozi, said the visit was aimed at celebrating Solomon and seeking collaboration to expand the group’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.

He described DYTM as a network of knowledgeable and committed youths determined to drive positive change through awareness and engagement. He noted that the group operates across all 25 local government areas of Delta State, with an additional structure to accommodate non-indigenes, bringing its operational reach to 26 units.

“We cannot afford to remain passive,” he said. “We are taking the message of development and reform to the grassroots because many people still lack access to accurate information.”

The meeting ended with both parties expressing readiness to work together to strengthen youth participation, improve public awareness of government policies, and support ongoing development initiatives in Delta State.
