The Delta State judiciary said it shot up its internally generated revenue (IGR) by 107 percent in 2019.
This is contained in a summary of revenue generated by the Probate Department as released by the office of the Probate Registrar of the High Court of Justice, Asaba.
The statement showed that the sum of N198, 291, 218.94 was realized in 2019 as against N95,799,170.78 of the IGR of 2018, representing a107 percent increase of IGR of the previous year.
A breakdown by the Probate Registrar of the sources of the revenue generated in the year reveals that the revenue was derived from 742 applications.
It was also stated that 687 Letters of Administration were granted and issued by the State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro.
Also, more Revenue was generated from 157 Wills, lodged in the Probate vault.
The statement also disclosed that the chief judge granted interim waivers on compassionate grounds to indigent applicants to enable them process Letters of Administration.
On his part of development, the Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro explained that the significant increase of the IGR was a clear affirmation of public confidence and trust in the state judiciary.
He therefore charged staff of high courts whose line of duty was revenue generation at all levels to be honest and transparent in order to maintain the public confidence reposed on the Judiciary in all areas.
