In what many people will describe as a Nollywood type of story, a suspected armed robber has lost his life at the hands of a Nigerian lawmaker, Abdullahi Salame.
The member of the House of Representatives who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), disclosed that he shot dead a suspected armed robber when he came to attack his residence in Sokoto with his gang members. The lawmaker who represents Gwadabawa and Illela Federal Constituency said he was attacked by the suspected robbers at his Bado residence in Sokoto metropolis,
He said: “All thanks be to Almighty Allah, today at about 3 a.m. I was attacked in my House in Sokoto by Armed Robbers but by Allah’s powers, I was able to shoot and killed one and injured some. I am grateful.”
Meanwhile, the police in the state confirmed the news through the state’s spokesperson Muhammad Sadiq.
In another development, goldennationblog.com gathered that in a sign of total disrespect to the Nigerian authority some people have engaged in a physical fight at the House of Representatives during a public hearing at Room 028.
The fighters are believed to be members of the oil host communities who had come to make presentations on the bill.
Also, following calls by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the sacking of former speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the lawmaker is yet to join its fold.
The APC denied claims by the PDP that Dogara has defected to the party. It was gathered that the ex-speaker, who was elected to the House of Representatives at the last general election on the platform of the PDP, reportedly defected to the APC last year.
