Delta community celebrate son, Oseji on elevation as justice of supreme court

The idumuje-Unor community in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State has celebrated its illustrious son, Justice Samuel Chukwudumebi Oseji over his promotion as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The reception at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Obi Charles Chukwunwike Anyasi 111, the Obi of Idumuje-Unor was great with the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in attendance.

While congratulating Oseji, Okowa said it was not easy to go through the ranks of High Court, Appeal Court, and now Supreme Court.

The Governor recounted that he had been in Idumuje-Unor for two times – the first being to commission the Idumuje-Union road linking Idumuje-Ugboko and then Issele-Uku, while the second now was to honour Justice Oseji who was recently elevated to Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The governor noted that the demands of the community in terms of road infrastructure and rehabilitation of the community Secondary School, praying he would have the opportunity to visit a third time.

Governor Okowa promised to work closely with the community to better evaluate the Idumuje-Unor/Onicha-Uku road in the interest of doing a proper project that would last the test of time.

He further stated that there must be something to remember him for visiting the community when Oseji was honoured, assuring he had already taken note of those projects he would do to leave his imprint on the community.

He commended Justice Oseji for bringing honour and pride to his community, praying for God’s grace to continue to shine forth on him for more honours.

He also praised the Monarch of the Idumuje-Unor Kingdom for his exemplary leadership in bringing his subjects together for peace, unity, and progress, assuring him that despite the economic downturn in the country, there would be a reason to glorify God in the coming year.

Meanwhile, Justice Oseji was emotionally appreciative of the kind gestures of his community to host him to a grand reception of such magnitude.

According to him, “I feel honoured and humbled today. Though I never expected to be a Supreme Court Justice, I believed that God directs the steps of the righteous.

“I pray to meet up with expectations. Just a week after our swearing-in ceremony, we were inundated with cases. There will be challenges definitely; however, when God blesses one, such does not look at the mundane things of the present, but instead look at the future.”

He further narrated the journey to the exalted position of the Justice of the Supreme Court, revealing that his name was even on the reserved list and not the priority list during an interview at the presidential panel.

He said he had never lobbied anybody before, neither had he visited the Supreme Court more than once before in his life, but he was eventually nominated and called for swearing-in after much delay from October 2019 to December 2020.

In his fatherly prayer for Justice Oseji, Obi Anyasi prophesied that Justice Oseji would one day be appointed the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

He gave a succinct description of the personality of Justice Oseji, eulogizing him for his sterling qualities that have continued to bring honour and matchless pride to the community.

The Traditional Ruler also appreciated the Jurist and wife, Dr. Mrs. Minnie Oseji for standing solidly behind him and his NGO – Uniblood.

Moreover, the community through another of their illustrious son and SSA to the Governor on Media, Comrade Norbert Chiazor, presented a well sculptured Olympian portrait of Justice Oseji to him.

The former Delta State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), told Justice Oseji that he would have to place the portrait in a strategic corner of his home or office adding that this will serve as an identity of the source.
