774,000 jobs: Keyamo maintains sharing formula

After a tough battle with the top National Assembly (NASS), the minister of state for labor, Festus Keyamo, has maintained the sharing formula for the 774,000 jobs proposed by the federal government.

Keyamo revealed that the initial plan to allocate 15% of the job slots to governors, NASS members, ministers, and interest groups still stands.

Keyamo rejected claims that he gave instructions for a 40% rise to politicians. He said: “I did not give any instruction on a 40 percent rise for them to implement. We are sticking to the original formula of 15 percent concession to political office holders.”

Pertaining to his role on the project, the minister said that he has not received contrary instruction from the presidency. He said: “I have not received superior instructions from my bosses. The presidency did not give contrary instructions on my role.”

The minister assured Nigerians that the ministry is cooperating with the National Directorate of Employment so as “to supervise the preparations for the takeoff of the project all over the country.”
