The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has said that the statutory entry requirements into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) must be strictly adhered to in the ongoing police recruitment screening exercise.
He made the disclosure on Tuesday, August 25, in a statement by the spokesperson for the police force, Frank Mba in Abuja.
According to Mba, the clarification became necessary after reports in some sections of the media claimed that the IGP has suspended the entry requirement for candidates who applied to join the police as constables.
Reports had emanated claiming that The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has suspended the entry requirements for applicants seeking to be recruited as constables. The report stated that the decision was taken after the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mohammed Adamu directed that no candidate should be disqualified irrespective of their physical appearance, age, and qualification. However, the recent update from the police has dismissed the reports as untrue.
Meanwhile, the police have announced locations for the screening of candidates in Rivers and Lagos states for the 2020 recruitment process. Elkana also told the applicants that their screening will be determined by the local government areas where they come from. He also admonished the applicants to report to the screening venue which is the police college Ikeja by 8 is on the date indicated for their various local government areas.
