Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Daniel Omoyibo, popularly known as Danmotech, has gifted a barber N5 million to help him start his own barbing business after meeting him during a routine haircut.
The act of generosity happened after Danmotech visited a barbing salon, where he struck up a conversation with the barber while getting a haircut. During the discussion, the barber shared his dream of owning a shop and explained how much it would cost to establish one.
A video of the encounter, shared by Nigerian Stories on Monday, showed that Danmotech had first walked away from another barber after they could not agree on the price of a haircut before another barber, identified as Suleyman from Kogi State, attended to him.
While speaking with Suleyman, Danmotech learned that he worked for the owner of the salon. When asked how much he needed to open his own shop, the barber estimated that between N2 million and N3 million would be enough.
Touched by his response, Danmotech announced that he would give him N5 million instead.
“I’m going to give you five million for you to go and establish your own,” he said.
He added, “You said two to three million you can establish, right? God has made this five million there for you. You can rent your house, you can do your business. So thank you and God bless you.”
Danmotech also advised the barber not to have any disagreement with his employer because of the gesture.
“Tell your guy not to take offence. Still serve your guy this month. Tell him next month, this man don empower me, so I will establish my own,” he said.
The businessman immediately requested the barber’s bank account details and promised to transfer the money so he could begin setting up his business without delay.
The visibly emotional barber, Suleyman, said he had never met Danmotech before the encounter.
“I never know him before. This is my first time of seeing him,” he said.
The video showed that the N5 million transfer was successfully made, drawing cheers from those present as the barber expressed appreciation for the life-changing support.
Reacting to the gesture, another person at the salon said, “It took the grace of God for someone to do such a thing like this. When we have people like this in this country, I think this country will move forward.”
The video has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians praising Danmotech for helping the young barber achieve his dream of becoming a business owner.
