APC Announces Screening Schedule for Senate, Reps Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the timetable for the screening of aspirants seeking to contest for Senate and House of Representatives seats ahead of the party’s primary elections.

The ruling party announced that the screening exercise will take place in Abuja as part of preparations to select candidates for the forthcoming National Assembly elections.

Details of the exercise were contained in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Friday.

According to the statement, aspirants contesting for Senate tickets will undergo screening between Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, formerly known as Sheraton Hotel.

The APC disclosed that the screening sessions for Senate hopefuls will begin at 10:00 a.m. on both days.

Similarly, the party announced that aspirants seeking tickets for the House of Representatives will be screened on the same dates at Treasures Suites & Conferences.

According to the party, proceedings for House of Representatives aspirants are also scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. daily.

The APC advised all aspirants to arrive early and ensure they come with all necessary documents and credentials required for the verification process.

The development comes amid increasing political activities within the ruling party as aspirants intensify consultations and preparations ahead of the primary elections that will determine APC candidates for the National Assembly.

Party stakeholders believe the screening exercise will play a crucial role in ensuring that only qualified aspirants emerge to participate in the primaries.

The APC, however, did not disclose the total number of aspirants expected to participate in the nationwide screening exercise.

Political observers say the process is expected to attract significant attention as competition for Senate and House of Representatives tickets continues to grow across several states.

The screening exercise marks another major step in the party’s preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle as the APC seeks to strengthen its chances ahead of the general elections.
