Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, officially declare open the 2025 Asaba Correspondents Chapel Seminar at Hotel Benezia, Asaba.
The governor, who is the Special Guest of Honour, is expected to attend the event with top government officials, including the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, members of the House, and several technocrats from within and outside the state.
The four-day SEMINAR/WORKSHOP, scheduled for November 26–29, is themed:
“Understanding the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Oborevwori’s Administration: Meaningful Development in the Power Sector as Panacea for Economic Recovery and Development in Delta State and Nigeria.”
The overview of the theme will be delivered by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.
A major highlight of the event is the keynote lecture to be delivered by former Minister of Power and CEO of Geometric Power Limited (GPAL), Aba, Professor Barth Nnaji. His presentation, titled “Nigeria Power Sector Reforms: Implications and Challenges for Emerging State Economies, National Economic Recovery,” will examine how states can leverage power-sector reforms to stimulate economic growth.
Another distinguished speaker, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, will address participants on “Energy Mix for Sustainable Economic Recovery and Development of Delta State and Nigeria.”
On security matters, representatives of the Tantita Security Group will lead discussions on protecting power infrastructure and offering specialized security solutions tailored to the energy sector.
The seminar, chaired by elder statesman Chief Chris Biose, will also feature artistic performances and an awards ceremony recognizing notable Nigerians who have made outstanding contributions in public service, politics, journalism, and philanthropy.
Several partners and key government officials are also expected, including the Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, and the Director General of the Delta State Bureau of Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimor Oghenesivbe.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Comrade Omon-Julius Onabu; the Chairman of Asaba Correspondents Chapel, Comrade Ifeanyi Olannye; and Committee Secretary, Comrade Ann Eluwa, the seminar will feature panel discussions led by experts on the main lecture topic. Members of the State Working Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, as well as invited guests from across the country, are also expected to attend.
