The Delta State Government has suspended Dr. Charles Olise, the member representing the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), following allegations of misconduct at work.
The suspension, which took effect on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, was confirmed in an official letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, and addressed to Dr. Olise.
According to the letter with reference number SGD.777/T4/80, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori expressed deep concern over reports of Dr. Olise’s conduct, describing it as behavior that could damage the ethical and professional reputation of the Commission.
“The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has noted with serious concern, reports of your misconduct at work which is capable of polluting the ethical and professional standards underpinning the general affairs of the Commission,” the letter read.
The SSG further explained that Dr. Olise has been directed to proceed on a three-month suspension without pay or any other benefits tied to his office.
“Accordingly, the Governor has directed that you proceed on immediate suspension for a period of three (3) months with effect from today, 7th October, 2025, and without the regular entitlements applicable to your position,” the statement added.
Dr. Olise has also been instructed to hand over all DESOPADEC property in his possession to the Managing Director of the Commission during the suspension period.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions in government circles and oil-producing communities, with many describing it as a clear demonstration of Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and transparency in public service.
However, the state government has yet to release details about the specific allegations that led to Dr. Olise’s suspension.
DESOPADEC, the state agency responsible for developing Delta’s oil-producing areas, plays a vital role in improving infrastructure, education, and welfare in host communities.
Dr. Olise’s suspension adds to a growing list of disciplinary measures taken by the Oborevwori administration to uphold ethical standards in governance.
