The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has celebrated the achievement of Akpevwe Ogboru, an assistant comptroller, who rode a motorbike from Nigeria to Belgium in 35 days.
Ogboru, popularly known as “Tracta 2,” arrived at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels at exactly 12:47 pm on Thursday, after covering about 10,265 kilometers across two continents and 10 countries.
Her trip, which she called Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research, was designed to promote gender equality, support girl-child empowerment, and highlight issues of connectivity, mobility, and cultural exchange across borders.
In a statement, Customs spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada said Ogboru’s journey, which started on August 1, 2025, showed courage, resilience, and the determination of Nigerian women to break barriers in different fields.
“The arrival of Assistant Comptroller Ogboru at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels was received with jubilation and admiration, reflecting pride in the Nigerian spirit of excellence,” the statement said.
The service added that her success should inspire not only Customs officers but also Nigerians and the global community, proving that determination and vision can break boundaries.
Customs also described her effort as a symbol of national pride, saying it will help strengthen Nigeria’s image, promote cultural exchange, and boost conversations on women and children empowerment.
Bashir Adeniyi, the comptroller-general of customs, praised Ogboru’s bravery and encouraged Nigerians to take lessons from her achievement.
“On behalf of the officers and men of the service, I commend Assistant Comptroller Ogboru for her bravery and dedication and urge Nigerians to draw inspiration from her pioneering effort,” Adeniyi said.
He also assured that the service would continue to support bold initiatives that promote resilience, innovation, and inclusivity.
