EFFURUN – Police in Delta State have arrested a 21-year-old woman, identified as Lilian, for allegedly stabbing her 34-year-old partner to death during a domestic dispute in the White House area of Jakpa Road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.
According to the state police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, the suspect and the deceased had been living together for four years and had two children. Lilian, who began the relationship when she was 17 years old, reportedly confessed to stabbing her partner in the chest after their argument turned violent.
In a video statement posted on X, Edafe said the suspect admitted to the crime and highlighted the troubling social issues behind it.
“Who do you blame? The girl, the society, or her parents who gave her out at 17 without a bride price?” he asked.
Edafe further revealed that the young woman had stopped schooling at SS2, despite being fluent in English.
Police say investigations are ongoing, while the victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary.
