In a previous report by The Story, it was revealed that he and his deputy were allegedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Port Harcourt while he was acting Accountant-General. The arrest was connected to an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of N1.3 trillion during the administration of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
