Delta Political Drama: Oborevwori’s APC Dream Meets Stiff Opposition

The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, is facing a lot of problems after deciding to leave his old party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Some important members of the APC are not happy about it and are strongly against making him the leader of the party in the state.

One of the loudest voices against this move is Prince Collins Eselemo, a popular activist and a loyal member of the APC. While speaking on Arise Television, he said bringing Oborevwori into the party without setting clear rules is a mistake. He even called the governor a “political liability,” meaning someone who could cause more harm than good to the party.

Eselemo was upset that Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, openly supported Oborevwori as the new leader of the APC in Delta State. He said Keyamo should not have done that without talking to the other party members first.

“We are not saying he can’t join,” Eselemo said, “but it must be clear what he is coming to do. If he wants to lead, then he must fix the damage he caused us when he was governor under the PDP.”

Eselemo talked about how APC members suffered during Oborevwori’s time as governor, saying their properties were destroyed and lands were taken without any payment, just because they were APC members. He said, “Now they want us to accept him as our leader? That’s not fair.”

He also warned that if the APC plans to use government money to pay off the PDP’s debts, then Nigerians, especially President Bola Tinubu, must be told the truth.

Ganduje to Okowa: You Can’t Control Delta APC

In another important update, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, reportedly told former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa that he cannot take control of the APC in Delta State.

At a meeting with Delta APC leaders, Ganduje said, “The party was built by someone who worked hard and won elections. We will not allow anyone to take it over.” He explained that President Tinubu had already ordered that the APC structure in Delta should remain with the people who built it from the ground up.

Ganduje added, “You joined the party because you were afraid of going to jail. So take whatever the party gives you. You don’t have the power to make big demands.”

This political drama is making things very tense in Delta State as the APC tries to figure out who should be in charge and how to move forward.
