A sad event happened in Oshodi, Lagos, on Friday when a man was hit by a train while standing on the railway tracks. The man, who was a trader, was standing in the middle of the tracks near Arena Shopping Complex.
It was around 2 pm, and the man was urinating while listening to music through his earpiece. He didn’t hear the loud train horn or the people shouting warnings because the music was too loud in his ears.
Passers-by tried to warn him, but it was too late. A few other people walking with him on the tracks heard the train and quickly ran to safety. Unfortunately, the man didn’t make it out in time, and the train hit him, causing his death.
The man’s body was left on the ground near his shop, and people quickly gathered around. Efforts were made to contact his family, but the police were also called to remove the body.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time people have been hurt by trains in Lagos. In places like Agbado, Agege, Ikeja, and Oshodi, traders often use the rail tracks to display their goods, which is dangerous, especially when trains come by.
The police are still working to identify the man, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the accident. The police have not yet shared more information about the incident.
