Delta State Councilor Hon. Eyanu Awards Scholarships to Indigent Pupils in Ovu Community

In a move that underscores his commitment to the development of his constituency, Hon. Oghenemarho Kingsley Eyanu, the Councilor for Dsiec Ward 18 in Ovu community, Delta State, has launched a comprehensive scholarship initiative aimed at supporting indigent pupils. As the Chief Whip of the 8th Assembly of the Ethiope East Legislative Arm, Hon. Eyanu’s efforts align with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, reflecting a broader strategy to enhance educational opportunities in the region.

The initiative was unveiled at a meeting on September 1, 2024, at Eyanu’s family compound in Asoro-Ovu. Organized by Barr. Fred Aburu, the PDP Ethiope East L.G.A Legal Adviser, the gathering brought together key leaders of Dsiec Ward 18. While Chief Mrs. Tessy Toro, PDP South-South Woman Leader, was absent due to official duties in Abuja, the meeting provided a platform to recognize the unwavering support of local residents for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the recent elections. Barr. Fred Aburu, who chaired the meeting, emphasized the importance of community solidarity in driving such initiatives.

Hon. Eyanu’s scholarship program will cover the full duration of primary school education for the selected pupils, easing the financial burden on their families and ensuring that these young learners have access to quality education. The initiative extends beyond scholarships, with Hon. Eyanu pledging to provide essential school supplies—including writing materials, uniforms, sandals, books, and bags—to all pupils in public schools within his constituency. This holistic approach is intended to remove barriers to education and equip students with the tools they need to succeed academically.

In his remarks, Hon. Eyanu highlighted the importance of education as a foundation for the community’s future prosperity. “Investing in the education of our children is an investment in the future of our community. We must ensure that every child, regardless of their financial background, has the opportunity to reach their full potential,” he stated. The distribution of scholarships and educational materials is expected to begin soon, with further details to be communicated to the schools and communities involved.
