Delta State’s newly appointed Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Peter Uviejitebor, has vowed to continue the work of his predecessor, expressing his commitment to sustaining and enhancing the ministry’s achievements.
Chief Uviejitebor made this pledge during an interaction with journalists at his office on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Reflecting on his initial period in office, the Commissioner noted that after thoroughly familiarizing himself with the ministry’s operations, he was impressed by the progress made under his predecessor’s leadership. He affirmed that he has already aligned with these successes and is determined to build on them, citing the strong support from the Permanent Secretary, Directors, Deputy Directors, and staff of the ministry as a solid foundation for further advancements.
In addition to his plans for the ministry, Chief Uviejitebor, who is also a former lawmaker representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, took the opportunity to comment on the 33rd anniversary of Delta State’s creation. He praised Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the significant developments currently underway in the state.
“Julius Berger has never carried out a construction project in the state since 1999. Go to Warri now; there is a new development that is taking place, and it is massive. Go to Uvwie, projects are ongoing. Furthermore, infrastructure projects are ongoing, road works are ongoing,” Chief Uviejitebor remarked.
He further highlighted the achievements of the Oborevwori administration, particularly in infrastructure and healthcare. “Several road projects have been commissioned within a short timeframe. When you go to the medical sector, enough budget is placed there, and a lot of medical facilities are in place, which is an indication that this government is better. The former governor did very well, but this present governor is doing better,” he added.
Chief Uviejitebor’s comments signal a strong endorsement of the current administration’s efforts, as well as his own readiness to contribute meaningfully to the state’s continued progress.
