Nigerian comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage name Basketmouth has finally reacted to the recent claim by AY Makun, his colleague’s story about their 17-year beef.
In a video that surfaced online, Basketmouth said he doesn’t want AY to hear from him.
It was gathered that both comedians have been in the news lately over their years-long dispute.
Recently in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the media personality, AY said their 17-year-old disagreement started over N30,000 debt.
On Saturday, @Onejoblessboy posted a video on Twitter wherein Basketmouth seemed to be talking about the issue.
In the video, the comedian was seen performing at an event when his audience asked him to tell his side of the story.
“They say na N30k,” some members of the audience were heard saying about AY’s claim.
But responding, Basketmouth said he would rather keep mum to avoid taking out the issue.
He said “The thing is, to be honest, I would have loved to talk about it, but some people will record it. Then it will leak and they will say that I have responded.
“To be honest, I don’t want that guy to ever hear from me,” he said.

Although he did not mention AY’s name in the video, the context of the words showed his statement was about his dispute with the latter.
In August 2021, Basketmouth claimed that he fell out with AY because the comedian “messed with loyalty”. Also, in 2022, during an interactive session with fans on Instagram, AY said Basketmouth has a ‘superiority complex’.
Intelregion reported that AY said even though he tried to end the beef with Basketmouth as they are now both rich but he will always refuse as Basketmouth always tells him that “I’m a beast, I don’t forgive.”
Comedian AY further noted that he attended Basketmouth’s wedding but wasn’t allowed to enter due to the 30k beef between them even though he invited his wife.
