Just a few days before the governorship and House of Assembly election, the People’s Democratic Party in Delta State alleged that plans are underway by the All Progressives Congress to rig the election scheduled for Saturday, March 11 using various security operatives.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu made this allegation during an interactive session with journalists in Asaba, the state capital on Wednesday.
He called on the heads of all the security operatives in the country to call their subordinates to order to enable the will of democracy to prevail in the state.
The Commissioner for Information explained that the essence of democracy is free choice adding that the APC governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo Agege should not be allowed to derail it.
According to him, Deltans should reject the APC because the party has nothing to offer to the good people of Delta State.
Aniagwu said that Saturday’s election was very important for it affects all Deltans and residents in the state.
He also said a vote for APC is to subscribe to political slavery, arguing that Omo Agege does not believe in a Power shift in Delta State.
In his allegation, the APC governorship candidate does not believe in the unity and oneness of Delta State.
Aniagwu challenged Omo Agege to tell the voters what he has for the state apart from spreading lies and propaganda.
On the alleged threat by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to sack LGA chairmen who fail to deliver their council areas in Saturday’s election, the Information Commissioner replied that it was a lie from the pit of hell.
He said there was no iota of truth in the allegation saying that Okowa was a thorough breed democrat.
He lambastes the APC governorship candidate for not campaigning on facts.
Aniagwu observed that Delta State APC was very ashamed of the abysmal performances of the party at the center.
He stated that PDP governorship candidate, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has the legacy projects of Okowa to campaign with. Oborevwori, according to Aniagwu was more liberal-minded than Omo Agege who is known for his clannish nature.
The Commissioner also debunk the rumors that Delta State Government has sold its Liaison Office in Lagos as well as other spurious statements being made by the APC governorship candidate.
