The President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima have received their Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Manhood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman presented the CoF to Tinubu and Shettima at the International Collation Center in Abuja on Wednesday.
Speaking after receiving the Certificate of Return, Tinubu said the Cof symbolizes service to humanity as he promises to be a servant to Nigerians, not a leader.
He also appeals to his fellow contestants to team up with him to build a better Nigeria while calling on the youth to work with him when his administration begins.
“I know many didn’t vote for me and are disappointed your candidate doesn’t stand where I stand now. I understand your hurt, anger, and disappointment and I send the embrace and comfort of one family member to another,” President-elect.
Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar; Peter Obi of the Labour Party; and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party in the 2023 presidential election that was held on Saturday.
He polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar, who polled 6,984,520 votes while Peter Obi obtained 6,101,533, and Rabiu Kwankwaso scored 1,496,687 votes.
