The race to clinch the Presidential ticket by Aspirants under the All Progressives Congress APC cannot be overemphasized, it’s becoming a myriad of well-deserving aspirants with different interests.
It’s a win for the party as it’s clearly a fundraising affair but most likely perceived to throw potential delegates into confusion on who to vote for during the primaries.
Today the great ancient city of Asaba, saw the likes of Rt. Hon Victor Ochie a former Speaker of the Delta state house of Assembly, amongst others driven in black colored 4 by 4s, sophisticated security details and blaring sirens, followers amongst others who accompanied the present-day Hon minister for transportation, His excellency, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Hon Rotimi Ameachi to Asaba to make known his interests to run for the office of the president and to also solicit for the support of delta delegates of the Progressives family.
Hon Rotimi while soliciting the support of delta delegates stated that “I’m a minister that’s present almost all the time, I’m not a big man minister, because I was born from a very poor family, my father and
Mother didn’t go to school, I know poverty, I was the first graduate of my entire home, after that, I started training my siblings.”
Speaking further the former Governor of Rivers state urged the party faithful not to be sentimental, in his words “Don’t be sentimental about your votes, don’t vote for me because I’m south-south but because I’m capable, hold me accountable when I’m there” adding that “my developmental strides are still evident in my state, my scholarship schemes made many graduates from different fields that are doing well in and outside Nigeria, I recall putting contractors on their toes as Governor, I let them know that if you don’t deliver as when due, not just me but the entire community will hold you till you get the job done “
“One thing I know for sure is that give us six more months and you will see the beauty of our efforts in road developments, taking cognizance of the 2nd Niger bridge, the bridge is almost set, but businesses in the region are already ahead and warming up for the opening for the usage of that bridge “
Hon Rotimi further hinted that “ if you observe you will see that there’s a lot of bickering and agitations on all regions and I’m certain that I can resolve all and sundry in these troubled regions, but most importantly, understand that the electability of a candidate gives us a chance, we need a sellable candidate.”
Also speaking was Rt. Hon Victor Ochei while giving the vote of thanks stressed that “He, Rotimi Amaechi is running as a Nigerian, as a president for all, for you and me, not as a south-south man, but as a capable Nigerian with a wealth of experience.”
