Pope Francis has called on families whose children are gay never to condemn them.
The pontiff had said this while speaking during his general weekly audience at the Vatican.
His Holiness said parents should always support their children if they are gay and not hide under the attitude of condemnation.
It was gathered that the Pope has repeatedly opposed that gay should be accepted in their parishes but expressed disagreement with their marriages.
According to the 85-year-old pontiff, he called on parents to never condemn their children for whatever reason, including their sexual orientation.
Speaking from the center stage of Paul VI Hall in the Vatican, the Pope said he understands the pains of parents whose children are affected with illnesses, even permanent illnesses, he added.
He said “Parents who see different sexual orientations in their children. How to deal with this, how to be on their side and not hide in a condemnatory attitude.”
While still speaking, he revealed that he is suffering from an agonizing inflamed ligament in his right knee that hinders his movement.
He also uses the opportunity to pray for peace in Ukraine and call for the center to prevail over partisan interests to resolve the West’s standoff with Russia.
