Nigerian comic actor, Ime Bishop Umoh, better known as Okon Lagos, has dissed out a word of advice to former President Goodluck Jonathan not to contest for the 2023 presidential election.
The Nollywood actor said this through a post he shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, following the rumors circulating that the former president might dump the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC).
According to the film star, he advised Jonathan to resist the temptation of “being wooed to pick up a presidential ticket”, stating that the APC-led government has done too much damage that cannot be fixed overnight.
He also said there is little Jonathan would do if he joins the presidential race and eventually become the president, adding that he should rather strive towards retaining his “hero status.”
In his words, he said “Rumours have it that Goodluck Jonathan is being wooed to run for president again. Abeg your excellency as tempting as it may sound, don’t. Too much damage has been done and it is too little you can do to fix it in just a term.”
“Imagine bringing Ronaldo in 90+2 minutes to turn around the fortunes of a team that is down by 7 nil what he will he do? Magic? Remain the legend and hero you are sir. Duck the bait.”
