Nigerian Grammy-award winner, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy has condemned the situation of dark clouds caused by soot pollution of illegal refineries in River State.
It was gathered that the atmospheric pollution has resulted in serious health difficulties to the residents of the state, as they are dying slowly.
According to reports, the regulatory agencies and security operatives have failed to address the situation.
While reacting to the situation, Burna Boy took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday to share some photos of the dark clouds caused by the pollution in the state.
In his post, the “Way Too Big” crooner called on all the relevant authorities to address the situation using the hashtag #StopthesootinPortHarcourt.
He wrote “Dark clouds over my city. What is the way forward, #StopthesootinPortHarcourt? This is what bright sunny days look like for my people now.”
To tackle the hazard, it was also gathered that Nyesom Wike, the state governor, had earlier authorized the shutdown of illegal refining of crude oil sites in the state.
He has declared 19 operators of illegal refining sites wanted for the soot pollution in the state.
Also, the state police command had earlier announced that its operatives have apprehended 18 persons accused of illegal activities.
