After being hospitalized on Friday, April 2, due to a heart attack, Earl Simmons, popularly known as Dmx died today at the age of 50 years.
The news of his death was announced by his family after spending one week in the hospital.
It was gathered that Dmx was rushed to the White Plains Hospital in New York where he received treatment in the intensive care unit on Friday, April 2, until his death.
The Ruff Ryder rapper died while still surrounded by close family and friends after suffering a heart attack at his home on April 2.
According to a statement by his family stated that “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at the White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.”
The family also explained in the statement that Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.”
The family continued, “Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”
DMX began his musical career in the early 1990s and he released his debut album ‘It’s Dark and Hell is Hot’ in 1998 to both critical acclaim and commercial success, selling 251, 000 copies within it’s first week of release.
DMX also featured in films like Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Last Hour.
He was married to Tashera Simmons in 1999 and survived by fifteen children.
