The Delta State Police Command has reported that, a 30-years-old pregnant woman identified as Blessing Emmanuel have stabbed her husband, Jonathan Otomi Umamode to death in Ohoro town in Delta State on Easter day.
These were made known in a statement issued in Asaba by the Spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Edafe Bright stated that, one Chief Hon. Macpherson Igbedi of No. 4 Akanaweh Street Off Ekredjebo road Ughelli, reported the incident to the Divisional Police officer on Monday, April 5, and detectives were immediately mobilized to the scene, remove the corpse, and was deposited at the Central Hospital for autopsy.
According to the statement, Chief Macpherson alleged that the incident occurred around 11:45 pm on Easter Sunday at Ohoro town in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the suspect, mother of seven was pregnant with her 8th child after she was arrested and later confessed to the crime that, she angrily stabbed her husband who she claimed does not take care of her and her children.
The suspect while narrating the ordeal stated that she sells fried chicken to take care of her kids, but on that faithful day, her husband came and demanded she go home with him which she refused, stating that, her husband gathered her fried chicken, poured kerosene, and set them ablaze, according to her, she angrily use the knife in her hand to stab the husband in his heart and ran away.
The Police Spokesperson, however, stated that the case is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, in another vein, the Police Spokesperson also explained that on Wednesday, April 7, at about 10:05 pm, a Police patrol team while on patrol in Giwamu street in Warri, sighted a tricycle with three occupants who immediately sighted the police team, abandoned their tricycle and ran into a nearby bush.
It was gathered that they were given a hot chase but because of the crowded nature of the environment, they made it difficult to arrest them, however, the effort is ongoing given arresting the fleeing suspects.
On searching the abandoned tricycle with Reg. No GUE 477 VC, it was reported that they uncover two locally cut-to-size single barrel guns.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, PSC+ has pledged to reiterate a pin-down point and intensive stop and search tactics as one of the proactive ways to prevent crime in the state.
