Within 24-hours: Davido amasses over N150M after asking for help

Singer Davido has received a whopping sum of over one hundred million nairas after inciting a fundraiser on social media.

The singer on Wednesday took to his social media handles to share a post with his account details asking his followers to send him money if they’ve enjoyed his music over the years to help him facilitate the clearance of his Rolls Royce at the ports.

Goldennationblog.com gathered that within 24 hours, Davido is officially richer as his supporters have come through with a lot of donations as well-known personalities, entertainers, and other similar citizens flocked in on social media and started sending him money.

Among those who joined in the donation are a rapper, MI Abaga; businessman, Femi Otedola; socialite, Obi Cubana.

With a target of N100 million set for the fundraiser, Davido has received over N150 million within 24 hours as at the time of filing this report.

In 2012, Davido rose to fame after releasing ‘Dami Duro’, the second track of his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.

Between 2013 and 2015, he released several hits and signed a record deal with Sony Music in January 2016.

The hitmaker would later establish the record label DMW to which acts like Dremo, Mayorkun, and Peruzzi signed.

In July 2016, Davido signed a record deal with Sony’s RCA Records, releasing the five-track EP ‘Son of Mercy’.

Davido re-negotiated his contract with Sony in 2017, releasing five singles including the chart-topping ‘If’ and ‘Fall’.

He released his second album ‘A Good Time’ in 2019, supported by hit singles including ‘Blow My Mind’.
