The Delta State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has delisted from its register, members who were confirmed to have fabricated and forged their certificates.
This was discovered after a strict membership screening and confirmation exercise conducted by the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel in the Council.
According to the screening and revalidation committee of the ICC, they uncovered this alleged crime after writing to the school’s Registrar and the reply came back shocking – that the results were faked.
One of such alleged fake journalists is Miss Godfrey Isioma Divine, a reporter with the Bridge Radio who allegedly fabricated Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Ukwu’s result and a certificate in 2011 to enable her to get admitted into the Union.
Confirming the incident, our source discloses through a phone conversation, that it was true that the said journalist has faked the result and the institution has already given their opinion on the issue.
Meanwhile, another journalist with the identical circumstance was Godwin Udoh from the same Indigenous Correspondents Chapel, ICC, whose certificate had been allegedly doubted by Auchi Polytechnic while the institution’s Registrar petitioned that the said holder should report to the school. But investigation disclosed that he (Udoh) was scared to go for the uncertainty of being arrested.
It was also gathered that the past NUJ Chairman has smuggled some other persons across the four or more chapels into the register, but their profession was questioned as incompetent members. Nevertheless, those certified to stay in the register by Comrade Sonia Unobunjo, Caretaker Chairman has left an ethical commitment on her as a consequence of her miserable deal to encourage her boyfriend’s team win.
Possibly, NUJ Delta members have prepared to elect their new State Working Committee on Tuesday 6th October 2020. But as of the time of filing this report, It wasn’t clear if the NUJ or the various Tertiary Institutions would prefer criminal charges against those who faked official documents and impostor for years as journalists.
