President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has picked Professor Attahiru Jega to help solve problems between farmers and herdsmen in Nigeria. Jega is famous for making elections better when he was in charge of Nigeria’s voting system from 2010 to 2015.
Now, he will advise the president on how to improve livestock farming—how animals like cows, goats, and sheep are raised. His job is to make sure herders and farmers can work together peacefully and find better ways to take care of animals.
Jega and the president had already worked on a plan to fix these issues, and this led to the creation of a new government office called the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development. This ministry will focus only on helping farmers and herders, making sure they have what they need to succeed.
Jega has spent many years as a teacher and leader in universities, and he has also helped other countries with election advice. Now, he is bringing his knowledge to help Nigeria’s livestock industry grow while keeping peace between farmers and herdsmen.
