Youths of Delta State have been told to gladly welcome the return of police to duty in the state.
The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Security, to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Engr. Emmanuel Udoka disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.
Engr. Udoka stated that based on coded intelligence, some youths are still angry seeing police carrying out their statutory duties on the roads and streets.
He also affirmed that the police had learned their lessons with the #EndSARS Protest, adding that its consequence had been frustrating to them.
“Even the Government and every leader holding one position or the other had learned one lesson or the other. The #EndSARS Panel of Enquiry is equally doing a great job which will bring peace, reconciliation, and compensation to everyone that was unjustly victimized by SARS.
“However, we must give peace a chance. The country belongs to us all; we are still trying to find our feet economically, which is why we shouldn’t destroy the little we had managed to build.
The security aide said;
“Our youths must understand this. They must understand that they had made their point and now should allow our leaders to learn their mistakes and correct themselves going forward”.
In the interest of growth and development, it was gathered that the SSA Security had been going around the local government areas, meeting with various security agencies and community leaders on the best way to initiate peace processes and build on them.
