Hon. Emeka Nwaobi Celebrates Second Anniversary as Leader of Delta State House of Assembly

ASABA, June 24, 2025 — The Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi, Ph.D., today marks his second year in office with a strong record of legislative excellence, infrastructural development, and community empowerment.

Hon. Nwaobi assumed office as the Leader of the House on June 24, 2023, two weeks after the inauguration of the 8th Assembly. As House Leader, he serves as the official spokesperson, represents the Governor in legislative matters, and speaks on behalf of the ruling party in the House. He also doubles as the Chairman of the Nigeria Majority Leaders’ Forum, a position he has held for the past two years.

A Trailblazer in Lawmaking

Within two years, Hon. Nwaobi has distinguished himself as a proactive and visionary legislator, sponsoring the highest number of bills in the 8th Assembly. His major legislative milestones include:

  • Delta State Merit Award Bill, 2023 – Passed Recognizes outstanding contributions to Delta State’s growth and development.
  • Delta State Domestic Staff Service Providers (Registration) Bill, 2024 – Passed Regulates the employment of domestic staff, ensuring proper documentation and welfare.
  • Delta State Food Security Bill, 2025 – In Committee Stage Aims to boost agriculture, promote food sustainability, and reduce external food dependency.
  • Delta State Landlord and Tenant Bill, 2025 – First Reading Seeks to protect tenants and landlords by promoting fairness and resolving disputes amicably.
  • Delta State Public Health and Hygiene Bill, 2025 – Awaiting First Reading Targets better sanitation, hygiene, and public health reforms.
