The Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Mr. Charles Odii, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope mantra, has extended a warm embrace to the constituents of Aniocha South this Christmas season.
In a grand gesture of goodwill, the DG distributed a total of 500 bags of rice, comprising 27 units of 25kg bags and 473 units of 10kg bags, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) wards and constituents in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. Out of this, 300 units of 10kg rice and 27 units of 25kg rice were allocated to the 11 APC wards in Aniocha South, while an additional 200 bags of 10kg rice were randomly distributed to other residents of the community.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Odii called on the people to remain hopeful and patient, emphasizing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies under the Renewed Hope agenda are laying the groundwork for the nation’s sustainable growth and prosperity.
“We are at a critical juncture as a nation. President Tinubu’s agenda is what we need to overcome the challenges we face today. When you fight corruption, it fights back. What we are experiencing now is the impact of this resistance, not failed policies as some would want us to believe,” Mr. Odii stated.
He urged Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in building a better Nigeria. He also reminded the constituents to cherish the festive season and remember that “Jesus is the reason for the season.”
The rice distribution ceremony, held on December 25, 2024, at the APC Party Secretariat, was attended by local party leaders, executives, and members. Receiving the items on behalf of the party, the Chairman of Aniocha South APC, Comrade Norbert Akachukwu Sochukwudima, expressed deep appreciation for the DG’s act of generosity.
“This is a clear sign of many more things to come. It aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu. The DG has demonstrated noble leadership by reaching out to the grassroots and supporting the executive members of APC across the 11 wards of Aniocha South,” Sochukwudima remarked.
He ensured that the rice was evenly distributed among the beneficiaries, ensuring that many left the event happy and hopeful.
Youth Leader Comrade Austin Utulu hailed the initiative as unprecedented, noting its impact on the people.
“This is a moment of joy for our people. Something like this has never happened before, and it shows that we have leaders who truly care about us,” Utulu said.
The festive atmosphere was marked by prayers and well-wishes for Mr. Charles Odii, with constituents expressing gratitude for his thoughtful intervention during the holiday season.
