Shockwaves in Delta! Hon. Ossai Ossai’s Defection Shatters PDP Stronghold

The air was filled with excitement and chants of celebration as Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, led over 3,000 supporters in a mass defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event, held in Kwale, saw a large crowd of political supporters, traditional leaders, and party officials gathered to welcome the new members.

For years, Hon. Ossai was a strong voice in the PDP, but standing before the jubilant crowd, he described his time in the party as “wasted years.” He expressed frustration over what he called a lack of good governance and fairness within the party.

“We are coming into this party with all our heart. Let the leaders of APC forgive us for the time we wasted on the other side. We are happy to join the ruling party, and we will defend this party with all we have,” he declared.

A Turning Point for Ndokwa Politics

Hon. Ossai, along with other political figures, including a former councillor from Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West Local Governments, made the bold decision to switch parties, citing deep-seated issues within the PDP.

He assured his supporters that the APC would offer them opportunities for growth and progress, calling on more members of the community to join before it was “too late.”

“APC will take over Delta State in 2027. It will not be business as usual,” Hon. Ossai said, as his supporters cheered.

He emphasized that after elections, political divisions should be set aside for governance to take center stage, a principle he believes is essential for true leadership.

APC Leaders Welcome the New Members

The event was not just about defections; it was a grand welcome party for the new APC members. Chief Greg Noah, the APC Chairman of Ndokwa West, praised Hon. Ossai and his supporters for their decision.

“This move shows that Ndokwa Nation stands with APC,” he said, assuring the new members that they would be treated as equals within the party.

Similarly, Chief Ejaife Omizu Odebala, a seasoned politician and former leader in the Delta State House of Assembly, described APC as a “winning party that never fails.”

“APC will be in Government House, APC will be in the House of Representatives, and APC will be in the Senate,” he said confidently.

Chief Emma Ejiofor, the traditional Prime Minister of Ubulu Kingdom, also commended the decampees. He described their move as a significant victory for the APC, signaling the party’s growing dominance in Delta State.

“One man cannot hold Anioma State to ransom. Politics is about the people, and today, the people have spoken,” he said.

Women’s Leader Welcomes Change

Hon. Rita Daniels Chukwuji, the APC Women Leader, warmly welcomed the decampees and praised Hon. Ossai for his courage.

“I bring you greetings from my in-law, Senator Ned Nwoko, who is fighting for your rights and better opportunities for the Ndokwa Nation. You have left a party where decisions are controlled by one person and joined a truly democratic party,” she said.

She assured the new members that they were now part of a national movement where their voices would be heard.

The Celebration of Change

The high point of the event was the official reception of the new members by Chief Greg Noah and other APC elders and leaders. Amidst singing and dancing, the crowd celebrated what they saw as a turning point in the political landscape of Ndokwa Nation.

With 2027 elections on the horizon, APC leaders and supporters left the event with renewed energy, confident that the party had gained significant ground in Delta State.
