Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly, is taking another senator, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, to court because he said mean and untrue things about her on TV. She is asking the court to make him stop and pay her N5.1 billion because of the damage his words caused.
What Happened?
On March 6, 2025, Senator Nwaebonyi was a guest on a TV show called Sunrise Daily on Channels TV. While talking, he called Senator Natasha names like:
- “Gold digger”
- “Habitual liar”
- “Habitual blackmailer”
He also made other statements about her personal life, including:
- Accusing her of being a mother of six children from different men.
- Saying her marriage happened only because she forced her husband.
- Claiming she accused someone of sexual harassment for no reason.
Why is Natasha Angry?
Senator Natasha said all of these things are false, hurtful, and dangerous to her reputation. She said it made her feel very embarrassed and sad, and people who admired her might now think badly of her.
What Does She Want the Court to Do?
- Say that the things Nwaebonyi said are wrong and defamatory (which means harmful to her good name).
- Stop him from saying such things again.
- Make him apologize on TV and in newspapers.
- Make him pay N5 billion for hurting her reputation.
- Make him pay another N100 million to cover the cost of going to court.
- Add interest if he delays in paying.

The case was filed on April 7, 2025, at the High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
