DMX posthumous album will drop in May, see date

A posthumous album titled ‘Exodus’ comprising all-new songs of late US rapper, Earl Simmons, better known as DMX will be dropping on May 28, under Def Jam Recordings.

The posthumous album will be dropped by his longtime producer and collaborator, Swizz Beatz, who also doubles as the executive producer and producer of the collection.

It was gathered by The Hollywood Reporter that his longtime collaborator, Swizz Beatz, announced the date on his Instagram page on Monday, May 10.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Swizz Beatz described DMX as a brother who was one of the purest and rare souls that he has ever met.

In his words, Swizz Beatz stated, “My brother X was one of the purest and rare souls I’ve ever met. He lived his life dedicated to his family and music.”

“Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. The album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”

However, the posthumous album, Exodus’ is DMX’s first album after 18 years in Def Jam Recordings since he released his last one, ‘Grand Champ’ in 2003.

The posthumous album shares the same name as DMX’s son, Exodus Simmons, and the artwork is been photograph by Jonathan Mannion, a frequent collaborator.

Recall the rapper who also was an actor died on April 9, at the age of 50 years after suffering from what officials described as a catastrophic cardiac arrest.

During his lifetime, the rapper has sold over 74 million records worldwide and he has held the distinction of being the only artist in history to enter both the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts with No. 1 debuts for his first consecutive career albums.

The five consecutive album includes, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot (May 1998, with “Ruff Ryders Anthem”), Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood (December 1998), … And Then There Was X (1999, with “Party Up (Up In Here)”), The Great Depression (2001, with “Who We Are”) and Grand Champ (2003, “Where The Hood At?”).

Meanwhile, the tracklisting for the posthumous album ‘Exodus’ was not available at the time of filing this report.
