In a shocking revelation that has caused a stir across social media and religious circles, Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has alleged that a pastor under the church absconded with $8,000, abandoned his wife in South Africa, and remarried in the United States.
Pastor Folu made the disclosure during a recent RCCG men’s program, where she expressed serious concerns about the presence of dishonest individuals in the ministry. The emotional account, which has now gone viral online, has left many church members and the public disturbed.
According to her, the unnamed pastor — said to be from Ekiti State, Nigeria — was assigned to Cape Town, South Africa, to serve as a church leader. During his time there, he was reportedly entrusted with $8,000 (about ₦12 million) meant for the purchase of a permanent site for the church.
Instead of using the funds for the project, the pastor allegedly disappeared with the money, leaving his wife behind in South Africa in a dire situation. Pastor Folu said the woman is now struggling mentally due to the betrayal and hardship she faces alone.
“He left the woman in South Africa and ran away. The woman is now almost running mad,” she stated, visibly distressed. “He went to the United States and remarried there.”
Speaking passionately to the congregation, Pastor Folu asked a sobering question:
“What are we going to do? Shall we continue to tolerate such lying and deceitful spirits in the house of God?”
Her words have since ignited strong reactions both online and offline, with many Nigerians calling for stricter measures to ensure accountability and integrity among church leaders.
The RCCG, known globally for its vast network of churches and influence, has not released an official statement on the matter as of the time of this report.
Meanwhile, many young people and Christians alike are using the incident as a reminder that spiritual leadership must go hand in hand with transparency, truth, and moral responsibility.
