Police arrests three Dowen College students allegedly connected to Oromoni’s death

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three students of Dowen College who are in connection to the sudden death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, the JSS2 student who died last week.

The state commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu, made this revelation known on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, stating that three out of the five students that were mentioned by the deceased are already in their custody and are being cross-examined by the police.

Oromoni before his death had named five students who he alleged had attacked him in his dormitory room and incited many internal injuries on him.

According to the commissioner, he also revealed that the suspects are assisting the police in their investigation.

The CP said “It is still an allegation until we conduct our investigation. We just started the full investigation yesterday (Monday).

“Two out of those mentioned in the viral video are at large while three of the students are helping us to get others.

“I am in contact with my counterpart in Delta State. I spoke with the parents yesterday, we are perfecting everything scientifically.”

It was gathered that on Sunday, December 5, 2021, the CP ordered an investigation into the death of Oromoni and also sealed the school premises till further notice.

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased had alleged that his son who is in JSS2 died from the injuries he sustained during an assault by five of his fellow students who intended to initiate him into a secret cult.

He added that his son was beaten and fed with a liquid chemical.

On the contrary, the management of Dowen College had insisted that Oromoni died after sustaining injuries during a football game.

Since the incident happened, the school has been in the eyes of the public as the situation has sparked outrage on social media platforms, with over 100,000 persons signing an online petition that seeks the detention and immediate prosecution of those found culpable.

The school is located in Lekki, Lagos.
