Nigerian music sensation Omah Lay has shared a surprising revelation about a creative idea he developed being used by a fellow artiste for their album. In a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show, the “Holy Ghost” hitmaker disclosed that he had crafted a unique sound while recording his 2023 hit single and had intended to base his entire new album around this sound.
Omah Lay, who has become a notable figure in the Nigerian music industry since his rise to fame in 2020, mentioned that he shared this innovative concept with an unnamed artiste who had approached him for a collaboration. However, just five months later, the artiste released an album featuring the exact sound that Omah Lay had initially intended to use for his own project. This unexpected move forced the 27-year-old star to rework his entire album.
Despite this setback, Omah Lay remains confident about his upcoming body of work, describing it as the “greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.” He noted that while he had to rethink his approach after the incident, the experience has only fueled his determination to create a groundbreaking album that will leave a lasting impact on the genre.
