The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom HRM ORHUE 1, Major General Felix Mudjakpero (Rtd), has on members of the House Committee on Power at the national assembly, to check the activities of the power sector in the country especially in Delta State.
He made the call on Tuesday at the palace of the Lodge when he played host to the Chairman of the House Committee on Power, House of Representatives, Abuja Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu and other members of the committee.
Describing the committee on power as a very important one for the development of Nigeria, the Orodje said: “Without power, no nation can move forward or develop”
The ruler also said that the present power infrastructure in the country was functioning at an epileptic rate and urged the committee to work out strategies on how the residents of Okpe can get a constant power supply.
Responding, Hon Magaji Da’u Aliyu assured the Orodje that the issue of power in Okpe kingdom would be looked into, assuring that the poor power supply in the area would soon be a thing of the past.
Hon Magaji Da’u Aliyu used the occasion to donate one transformer to any community of choice by the Orodje.
Some notable persons present at the occasion included Hon Efe Afe member representing Okpe, Uvwie, and Sapele Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abuja; Hon Efe Uku, PDP chairman Okpe Local Government Area; and Mike Afe, a District Head in the Okpe Kingdom, amongst others.
