Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State on Tuesday, November 17, told officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces to be humane in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
Okowa gave the advice while flagging off the Nigeria Army’s Operation Crocodile Smile VI at the army super camp located at kilometer 11, Asaba/Benin expressway, Asaba.
The governor was, however, represented at the ceremony by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie.
The exercise had earlier attracted criticisms from some segments of the society, especially in the Niger Delta region, but Governor Okowa says it is necessary as the yuletide approaches. Festive seasons most times comes with a high rate of crime in the country, hence the stance of the governor.
