A Special Visit in Warri

By Elizabeth Oduje

Chief Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, the Executive Director of Projects at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), recently welcomed an important visit from the management team of The Pointer, a government-owned newspaper in Delta State. The meeting took place in the DESOPADEC boardroom in Warri, where both parties discussed their ongoing collaboration and commitment to supporting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda—a plan focused on improving development across the state.

The current General Manager (GM) of The Pointer, Mrs. Rosemary Nwaebuni, along with the former GM, Mr. Godfrey Ubaka, and other board members, came to congratulate Okorodudu on his leadership and new role. They also expressed their hope for continued partnership between DESOPADEC and the newspaper.

Mrs. Nwaebuni praised Okorodudu for his dedication to improving communities in Delta State. She explained that his leadership would benefit many people and help bring positive changes to the oil-producing areas. “We are here to celebrate with you today and ask for your support to achieve great things,” she said.

Mr Ubaka, the former GM, also spoke highly of Okorodudu, describing him as a leader who has transformed DPPC (Delta Printing and Publishing Company, which owns The Pointer). He noted that Okorodudu’s efforts had helped the company grow, and he believed his expertise would bring further success to DESOPADEC.

In his speech, Okorodudu thanked The Pointer team for their visit and recognized the newspaper’s role in responsible journalism. He encouraged them to continue reporting on development projects across the state so that citizens would be aware of the government’s work.

He also emphasized the importance of unity within the DESOPADEC and DPPC teams, acknowledging the presence of several board members, including Otumara Bolanle and Engr. Elliot Olokor, Engr. Anthony Okuwe, Engr. Matthew Onokpasa, Oyimi William, Ifowodo F.F, Ibuje Elohor, Mrakpo Ovoke, Bright Asuguo, Hon. Mike Nmor, Patricia Idjerhe, Sibisaba A.P, Elohor Foghola, and Elizabeth Oduje.

During the meeting, Mr. Ojji, a board member, stressed that many people in Delta State are unaware of the ongoing projects in their communities. He encouraged The Pointer to continue sharing updates about the government’s efforts so that citizens can see the progress being made.

Another board member, Mr Michael, thanked Okorodudu for his kindness and the positive impact he has had on the lives of The Pointer staff.

Chief Okorodudu praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his dedication to improving Delta State. He expressed confidence in the governor’s ability to complete important projects and ensure growth in the region. He also encouraged the media to highlight stories that align with the MORE Agenda, which focuses on development, infrastructure, and economic growth.

“No challenge can stop Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration,” Okorodudu declared. “With God’s wisdom, grace, and resources, the governor will continue to bring progress and democracy to Delta State.”

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both DESOPADEC and The Pointer reaffirming their commitment to working together for the benefit of the state.
