By Ifeanyi Omenogor

Two prominent indigenes of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Architect Ikechukwu Odide, Chief Executive Officer of MIO Group of Companies, and Bishop Brian Ilomechine, popularly known as Team Bishop, have been praised for their outstanding contributions to youth development and peacebuilding in the area.

The commendations came during the Aniocha South Football Fiesta held at Ogwashi-Uku, an event solely organised by the MIO Group and Team Bishop to promote unity among young people.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Pastor Jude Chukwuwike, described Architect Odide and Bishop Ilomechine as “illustrious sons of Aniocha South who have the progress of the area at heart.”

He thanked them for investing their resources to organise the football tournament, noting that the initiative would deepen peace and unity among the youths. He prayed for God’s blessings upon them and their families.

Also present were the Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Harry ThankGod Trakiriowei, and the Commissioner for Environment, Jamani Tommy Ejiro, who both praised the organisers for championing a program that brings young people together.
They stressed that sports remain a powerful tool for promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion within communities.

The State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Sagboje Milton, also commended the initiative, describing MIO Group and Team Bishop as “peace advocates and empowerment masters.”

He said the football competition was a strategic way to positively engage young people during the season and discourage them from negative activities.

Traditional rulers who graced the event, including the Obi of Ashama Kingdom, Obi Solomon Ezechinyelugo II, and the Obi of Ewulu Kingdom, Obi Godwin Onyeweuwa, showered praises on Architect Odide.
They described him as an “uncommon philanthropist whose kind is rare,” adding that he remains deeply committed to the welfare of his people.
They reaffirmed that both MIO Group and Team Bishop are true sons of Aniocha South and urged other youths to emulate their exemplary efforts.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Architect Odide and Bishop Ilomechine expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman, Pastor Jude Chukwuwike, whom they described as a “great unifier who has brought peace and development to the Local Government Area.”

They explained that their goal in organising the football competition was to unite the youths and help them stay away from cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices that could hinder their future.

Both men encouraged the youths to continue on the path of peace, stay focused on positive activities, and shun harmful behaviours.
