Oborevwori to Flag Off N59.7bn Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to flag off the construction of the N59.7 billion Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, on Monday, January 19, 2026, marking another major step in the state’s urban infrastructure expansion drive.

The flyover, located along the busy Lagos–Asaba Expressway at Uromi Junction, is designed to ease persistent traffic congestion in the area, enhance road safety, and improve connectivity between Agbor and surrounding communities. The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time for motorists and boost commercial activities on the axis.

According to the Delta State Government, the project reflects Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to delivering people-focused infrastructure that supports economic growth and urban development across the state. The administration has continued to prioritise strategic road projects to address traffic bottlenecks in key towns and cities.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, the groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., while invited guests are expected to be seated by 10:00 a.m. to ensure a smooth and orderly event.

Even ahead of the official flag-off, construction work has already commenced at the project site. The contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has mobilised equipment and personnel and begun preliminary works, demonstrating the government’s readiness to ensure the project is executed without delay.

The Uromi Junction Flyover comes just one week after the groundbreaking of the N39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, underscoring the pace at which the Oborevwori administration is rolling out major infrastructure projects across the state.

With the commencement of the Uromi Junction Flyover, the number of flyover projects currently being executed by the Delta State Government has increased to five, highlighting what the government describes as an aggressive and deliberate approach to urban renewal.

The flyover projects are part of the state’s broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at decongesting major roads, reducing accidents, improving ease of movement, and stimulating economic activities in Delta State’s key urban centres. The government maintains that these projects will have long-term benefits for residents, businesses, and commuters across the state.
