Wema Bank and the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) are working together to help 800,000 small businesses grow in Nigeria. They signed an agreement to provide training and business support for small and medium-sized businesses across the country.
This program will run for 12 to 18 months and will teach business owners important skills like money management, marketing, and how to expand their businesses successfully.
How It Works
- Wema Bank will provide training, resources, and support.
- SMEDAN will select the businesses that will benefit from the program.
Why This Matters
Speaking about the project, Wema Bank’s CEO, Moruf Oseni, said the bank has always helped small businesses in Nigeria. “Since 1945, our goal has been to provide financial support for businesses. This partnership with SMEDAN will help even more entrepreneurs succeed,” he said.
SMEDAN’s Director-General, Charles Odili, praised Wema Bank for always supporting businesses. He said this partnership will create new opportunities for small business owners and help them succeed.
A Step Towards a Stronger Economy
Wema Bank is known as Nigeria’s SME Bank because it helps small businesses with loans, training, and mentorship. On the other hand, SMEDAN, founded in 2003, has worked to grow Nigeria’s business sector and encourage entrepreneurship.
This partnership is a big step towards making Nigeria’s economy stronger by helping small businesses thrive and expand.
