Hon. Peter Uviejitobor, the newly appointed Commissioner for Oil and Gas in Delta State, has promised to prioritize sustainable development and environmental care in the state’s oil and gas sector.
Following his swearing-in by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Uviejitobor, along with five other new Commissioners, committed to working with stakeholders to minimize the environmental impact of oil activities. He highlighted the importance of oil to Nigeria’s economy and the state’s goal to remain a leader in the industry.
Uviejitobor emphasized the need for a balanced and cooperative approach among all parties involved to increase oil production while ensuring environmental protection. He also reiterated the government’s dedication to fostering good relations between oil companies and local communities to prevent conflicts.
With his background as a two-term member of the Delta State Assembly and former Special Adviser to the Governor on government affairs, Uviejitobor is well-acquainted with the oil sector. He assured that his ministry will continue to support local content and capacity building as part of the Governor’s reform agenda.
Uviejitobor also stressed the importance of implementing agreements with host communities and oil companies to maintain peace. He expressed gratitude for his appointment and requested support from industry stakeholders and local communities to achieve these goals.
