Delta North Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying the party is too divided to serve the people effectively.
1. Deep Divisions and Factional Fights
In his resignation letter dated January 30, 2025, Senator Nwoko explained that the PDP has become deeply divided. He stated that different groups within the party are constantly fighting, making it difficult to work as a team. He even mentioned that on January 29, 2025, some party leaders physically fought each other due to their disagreements.
2. Party Structure is Blocking Progress
The senator also said that during his 2023 election campaign, he made several promises to the people of Delta North. However, he believes the current structure of the PDP in Delta State does not support his plans for development. He feels that staying in the party would stop him from fulfilling the commitments he made to his people.
3. Commitment to the People Over Party Politics
Despite leaving PDP, Nwoko reassured his supporters that he is still committed to serving them. He promised to keep working towards the progress and prosperity of Delta North, Delta State, and Nigeria.
4. Gratitude to PDP, Future Plans Unclear
He thanked the PDP for giving him the opportunity to contest the senatorial election and wished the party success in the future. However, he did not say whether he would be joining another political party.
